Das Darstellen des Sehens ist ein zentrales Thema in der Kunst von Markus Raetz (1941-2020). Mit der Silhouette eines Fernglassichtfelds hat er dafür bei Zeemansblik eine so schlichte wie überzeugende Form gefunden. Von diesem Zinkblech-Relief entstanden zwischen 1985 und 1999 rund zwanzig Fassungen in unterschiedlichsten Dimensionen. Das titelgebende niederländische Wort Zeemansblik (wörtlich: Blick des Seemannes) kann mit Seeblick übersetzt werden. Blik bedeutet jedoch zugleich auch Blech. Die Doppeldeutigkeit des Titels weist sachlich auf das Material hin und fordert zugleich dazu auf, die vom horizontalen Falz im Blech bewirkte Linie als Meereshorizont zu deuten. Die Veränderung des Betrachtungsstandpunktes führt zu wechselnden Lichtreflexen auf dem gewölbten, blanken Blech, die als unterschiedliche atmosphärische Stimmungen wahrgenommen werden. Für die Betrachtenden wird so aus einem schlichten, abstrakten Objekt an der Wand ein Marinebild ohne Malerei mit dem Sehnsuchtsmotiv des Blicks in die blaue Ferne. Franz Müller beschreibt in diesem Buch - dem 7. Band der Reihe Schlüsselwerke der Schweizer Kunst - die Komplexität hinter der scheinbaren Einfachheit von Markus Raetz' Zeemansblik und zeigt auf, was das Relief zu einem Schlüsselwerk der Schweizer Kunst macht.

Aldo Mozzini. Casematte is the first major book on the work of Swiss artist Aldo Mozzini. Published in conjunction with an exhibition at Museo Casa Rusca in Locarno, Switzerland, it features his energetic art through more than 300 illustrations along with texts by distinguished Swiss curators. A conversation with the artist rounds off the volume, which highlights Mozzini's contribution to the contemporary art scene in Switzerland. Born in Locarno in 1956, Aldo Mozzini has lived and worked in Zurich since the 1980s. Galleries and museums in Switzerland, Italy, and France have shown his works in solo and group exhibitions, and he has won the Swiss Art Award twice, in 2012 and 2019. His oeuvre comprises drawing, painting, objects, photography, sculpture, and installation, moving restlessly from one form of expression to another. The book reviews 40 years of Mozzini's career and explores various aspects of his humorous and poetic art. The impressive body of his paintings and graphic works is closely linked to the sculptures and installations that remain Aldo Mozzini's preferred media.

Ossian Fraser (b. Edinburgh, 1983; lives in Munich and Berlin) molds and captures evanescent moments. Working with volatile materials such as water, dust, or light, the artist exposes the latent potentials of unremarkable situations in the urban fabric and natural scenes. A tunnel in a city, a rock face in the mountains become points of departure and elementary components of his site-specific interventions, which he records in photographs. The book is the first to offer comprehensive insight into Fraser's artistic practice. Series of pictures showcasing his conceptual and poetic pieces alternate with conversations that not only demarcate the framework in which his art operates, but also touch on the great issues of our time. Ossian Fraser studied fine arts and sculpture at the Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences, Bonn, from 2006 until 2009 and at the Weißensee Kunsthochschule, Berlin, from 2009 until 2013, rounding out his education in Albrecht Schäfer's master class in 2013-2014.

At an elevation of 14115 feet, Pikes Peak is the southernmost of Colorado's famous "Fourteeners." The monolith of rare pink granite juts up out of the Front Range of the Rockies seven miles west of Colorado Springs. A natural "weather maker," its unmatched profile protects the city from prevailing winds, and the crags often seem to reach up to snag the rain or snow-soaked clouds and hold them at bay. Mesmerized by the way the sun played on and over the mountain¿particularly at dawn and dusk¿I quickly fell into a love affair with "America's Mountain." This book is my tribute to Colorado, to Pikes Peak, and to the skies above the Front Range.

The Wiener Variationen (Viennese Variations) comprise eighteen piano compositions. Alexander Wiener also describes his pieces as sound-sketches or mental sound-diagrams. They are dated chronologically and reveal spontaneous moods, circumstances and experiments. Alexander Wiener composed the pieces Wiener Variation 15B and Wiener Variation 32B To the Mother Earth for the ballet AcroDuo by Elena Petrichenko and Sergey Chumakov. Each of the compositions is accompanied by video images and hitherto unpublished lighting interventions. In addition, to accompany the publication, the Alexander Wiener Prize, which encourages musical exploration of Wiener's work, has also been established.
