Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2013 im Fachbereich Politik - Sonstige Themen, Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena, Veranstaltung: Tutorium, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Als Ausgangsthese dieser Hausarbeit soll ein Zitat aus dem im März 1921 erschienenen Buch ,,Die deutsche Revolution, ihr Ursprung, ihr Verlauf und ihr Werk" des sozialdemokratischen Theoretikers Eduard Bernstein fungieren. Damit versuchte dieser, sich und seinen Zeitgenossen zu erklären, warum der Staatsumbruch in Deutschland viel weniger radikal abgelaufen war als alle großen Revolutionen der Geschichte und welche Rolle die Parteien dabei gespielt haben. Bernstein vertritt den Standpunkt, ,,[...]je ausgebildeter eine Gesellschaft ist, desto schwerer lässt sie Maßnahmen zu, die auf ihre radikale Umwälzung abzielten[...]" und beurteilte das Handeln der Sozialdemokraten während der Revolution mit den Worten: ,,Gleichviel, ob sie sich darüber theoretisch Rechenschaft ablegten oder nicht, haben die maßgebenden Führer der SPD dies aus Einsicht in die tatsächlichen Verhältnisse begriffen und ihre Praxis in der Revolution danach gerichtet".Kann man das Verhalten der MSPD während der Revolution als das Richtige und das den Umständen Angemessene bezeichnen?

Inhaltlich unveränderte Neuauflage. Die Lossagung der 13 nordamerikanischen Kolonien von England im Jahr 1776 stellte sowohl für diese Kolonien als auch für das Mutterland eine Zäsur dar. Historiker haben seit Generationen damit zugebracht die Vorgänge, die sich in den Kolonien und im Mutterland abspielten und letztendlich zum Bruch zwischen beiden Seiten führten, zu rekonstruieren und zu interpretieren. Aufbauend auf diese Arbeiten wirft der Autor einen soziologischen Blick auf den turbulente Zeitraum zwischen 1764 und 1776. Insbesondere untersucht er die Rolle der kolonialen Eliten, ohne deren Zutun die Kolonien nicht den Schritt in die Unabhängigkeit gegangen wären. Wenn von Eliten die Rede ist, muß es also mehr als eine Elite gegeben haben. Was für Eliten existierten damals, welche Interessen hatten sie und warum, wie verfolgten sie ihre Ziele und wie beeinflussten sie die Nichtelite, ohne deren Unterstützung der Widerstand gegen England nicht möglich gewesen wäre? Wer sich für die Beantwortung dieser Fragen interessiert, sollte dieses Buch lesen. Soziologische Vorkenntnisse sind für das Verständnis des Inhalts hilfreich, werden jedoch nicht unbedingt vorausgesetzt.
