Including more than 6,000 titles, the bibliography represents the full spectrum of research on the life and work of the Baroque architects Johann Bernhard and Joseph Emanuel Fischer von Erlach. The first bibliography on Fischer von Erlach, published over 35 years ago, has now been more than tripled in size; it is arranged thematically and chronologically and also includes contributions of a more general nature on Austrian Baroque architecture. For the first time, both beginners and experts are thus provided with an important aid to research. The bibliography is supplemented by a volume of essays bringing together Andreas Kreul's older and more recent writing on Fischer von Erlach. The final attempts by European forces to capture Jerusalem and dominate the Holy Land The strategy of the Fourth Crusade (1202-04) was to first defeat the Egyptian Ayyubid Sultanate-the most powerful Muslim force. However, the Christian cause quickly became corrupted when it laid siege to and sacked the Christian city of Zara in Croatia (1202) before advancing on and sacking Byzantine Constantinople and partitioning the empire. Only a handful of the crusaders reached the Holy Land. The Fifth Crusade (1217-21) also attempted to subdue Egypt. The port city of Damietta, at the mouth of the Nile was attacked and taken as a preliminary of an advance on Acre. In July of 1221 the crusaders marched on Cairo where they engaged Muslim forces at Mansurah, were decisively defeated, compelled to surrender and depart from Egypt having achieved nothing. Seven years later the Sixth Crusade began and was a partial diplomatic success which enabled the Kingdom of Jerusalem to restore much of its former influence. The Seventh (1248-54) and Eighth Crusades (1270), made notable by the involvement of King Louis IX of France not only once again failed in their objectives, but resulted in the death of the king. The Ninth Crusade, led by the future king of England, Edward I, led to a ten year truce with the Mamluks before the fall of Acre, the expulsion of permanent European powers and the end of the time of Crusaders.Leonaur editions are newly typeset and are not facsimiles; each title is available in softcover and hardback with dustjacket.

When Seemab Zahra's Maternal Grandmother, Nani, died in 2021 due to COVID-19, it was challenging to process those emotions while in Canada and not being able to travel to Pakistan to pay her last respects. Was ist Kunst? Was leistet Kunst? Warum bewegt uns Kunst? Und warum kommt ästhetischen Fragestellungen gerade heute wieder eine besondere Relevanz zu? Diesen Fragen geht der seit 2019 von der DFG eingerichtete Tübinger Sonderforschungsbereich 1391 Andere Ästhetik nach. Dabei möchte er die historische Tiefenschicht eines Perspektivwechsels aufarbeiten, der sich darauf richtet, Kunst und Künste nicht in autonomen Sonderräumen zu situieren. Hierfür bringt das Forschungsprojekt die 2000-jährige europäische Kunst- und Kulturgeschichte vor dem 18. Jahrhundert neu in Anschlag. Der Band erläutert, worin der Gewinn der Konzentration auf die Vormoderne besteht, welche Neujustierung der Analyseinstrumentarien damit verbunden ist und welche grundsätzlichen Konsequenzen für Fragen der Ästhetik sich hieraus ergeben. Die Beiträge, die von den Philologien über die Kunstgeschichte, Archäologie und Musikwissenschaft bis hin zur Geschichtswissenschaft, Theologie und den Digital Humanities reichen, bieten hierfür konkrete Beispiele. Ziel ist es, von den ästhetischen Reflexionen der Vormoderne aus Impulse auch und gerade für die Diskussionen in der Gegenwart zu gewinnen.
