Bekannt geworden ist Heinrich VIII. nicht etwa durch große Taten oder Verdienste, sondern eher wegen seiner sechs Ehefrauen und vor allem wegen der Abspaltung Englands von der katholischen Kirche. Einst vom Papst zum "Fidei defensor" (lat. Verteidiger des Glaubens) ernannt, errichtete Heinrich VIII., ein klarer Gegner Luthers und seiner Lehren, scheinbar willkürlich eine neue Kirche und trennte sich und sein Land von Rom. Das Ziel dieser Masterarbeit ist es, verschiedene Literaturquellen zu analysieren, um die Frage zu beantworten, wie es zum Bruch Heinrichs VIII. mit Rom gekommen ist, und welchen Einfluss die Reformationsbewegung auf dem europäischen Festland hatte und somit das Bild Heinrichs VIII. als willkürlichen, liebestollen und tyrannischen Herrscher zu korrigieren und abzumildern. Folgende Punkte sind die Ziele der vorliegenden Arbeit: - Heinrichs Verhältnis zu Rom und der katholischen Kirche vor dem Bruch mit ihr beleuchten, - das engere Umfeld am Hofe Heinrichs VIII. betrachten und den Einfluss verschiedener Personen, wie Kardinal Wolsey, dem Humanisten Thomas More, Thomas Cromwell und Anne Boleyn, untersuchen, - und anhand der Ergebnisse die folgende Forschungsfrage beantworten: War der Bruch mit der katholischen Kirche tatsächlich willkürlich oder eine Folge der Reformationsbewegung?

Das Völkerrecht definiert, in seiner Drei-Elemente-Lehre, den Staat als die Einheit von Gebiet, Volk und Gewalt. Nur der Verfassungsstaat gilt als Rechtsstaat, denn das Recht ist eine Notwendigkeit der Freiheit und der Staat ist eine Notwendigkeit des Rechts. Ohne Staat kein Recht und ohne Recht keine Freiheit. Der Staat ist somit Rechtsstaat und Freistaat, aber nicht notwendigerweise parlamentarische Republik.Die Wirklichkeit des Parteienstaates ist oligarchisch und will gerechtfertigt werden. Fast allen Parteigängern geht es um Posten, Pfründe und Vorteile. Entscheidungen werden den Parteiführern von außen, von anderen Staaten, von der Wirtschaft, vor allem der internationalisierten Industrie und Finanzwirtschaft, von Verbänden usw. vorgegeben und aufgedrängt. Der Bundeskanzler ist regelmäßig der Vorsitzende der stärksten Bundestagspartei und hat die Macht der Ämterzuteilung, die wichtigste Befugnis im Machtsystem, aber auch die größte Macht bei der Kandidatenaufstellung seiner Partei. Das führt systemisch zur Negativauslese der Abgeordneten, schon weil kein Machthaber Konkurrenten duldet. Folglich sitzen im Parlament vornehmlich Mitläufer ohne hinreichende politische Substanz und meist ohne besonderes Interesse am gemeinen Wohl. Diese Form der Parlamentsherrschaft führt regelmäßig dazu, daß eine Mehrheitsentscheidung im Parlament zugleich die Minderheit des Volkes repräsentiert.Das parlamentarische Zeitalter ist unwiderruflich zu Ende. Seine Formen leisten nichts mehr, sie belasten uns nur. Wer auf der Höhe seiner Zeit steht, musste 1830 Demokrat sein und 1930 das Gegenteil davon, wie er 1730 Absolutist sein musste und 1830 nicht. Wir sind in Deutschland durch unsere ganze Vergangenheit und unsere Lage ein monarchisches Volk, möge der Regent nun Kaiser oder Kanzler heißen. Die Notwendigkeit neuer Regierungsformen wird eines Tages an uns herantreten.
