This is the gentlest manifesto ever written. An unpreachy manifesto, with a sense of humor. An un-manifesto, comprised of seven ekphrastic poems focusing on the greatest artworks of the 22nd century. These poems are about the meaning(s) behind the meaning(s) of art in the not-too-distant future, invoking a distinctly new breed of creators with decidedly different creative values. This collection is sure to challenge your notion of art and the role of the artist.

This scrapbook is a comprehensive record of the making of Linda Karshan's historical walked drawing masterpiece, Two Feet Walking, which she enacted on Friday, 8 April 2022, at Murray Edwards College, Cambridge, in collaboration with poet/filmmaker Ishmael Annobil. Created for The Women's Art Collection, Two Feet Walking is a tour de force of Karshan's groundbreaking genre, featuring strategic intermissions for sartorial adornment, in response to symbolic areas of Murray Edwards' iconic, brutalist architecture.This unique book boasts remarkable photo essays and expressive behind-the-scenes photography, captivating critique and analyses by such luminaries as The Late Jill Silverman van Coenegrachts and Colin Gleadell; alluring jottings; and an overarching essay, establishing the history and definition of Karshan's revolutionary genre. It is notable for the lyrical photography of Ghanaian Photographer Nana Yaa Annobil.

A collection of poems, dreams, notes, scores and drawings and sketches made between 2020 and 2022. These were made In Ann Arbor, Spartanburg-South Carolina, Warren- Michigan, Allapatah-Miami Florida and Wien Österreich. The contents were created either in the process or reflection of Struggles around paper work-Immigration Bureaucratic systems.

"Sokunge/As if ". "Sokunge", is a Shona word that describes phenomena that is intrinsically something else other than their appearance. More like deception or dissimulation of form, concept, or sound. In this exhibition, I was looking at forms that appear as something, but upon a closer look, they reference a lot of other things, more like below the surface politics. That is the relationship between hidden and exposed transcripts, it is the subtext, the micro politics. There's a lot of mingling of symbolism in the work itself and layered aesthetics.

Springtime in Byzantium collects three distinct but related works by luke kurtis: a poem titled theodora, a series of conceptual photographs titled marble paintings, and a performance art/video art piece titled labyrinth. Structured around and inspired by the Basilica of San Vitale in Ravenna, Italy, this trilogy of works is presented alongside photographs and digital collage works also by the artist. The motif that pulls the book together is the bookmatched marble panels of San Vitale. "Its kaleidoscope-like forms are so captivating, yet they're overshadowed by the famous mosaics," says the artist. "If you stop and think about it, the bookmatched marble isn't out of place in a contemporary design sense. You could take the panels out of the church and put them in a modern building, and no one would bat an eye. I wanted to use my photographs to remove the panels conceptually, put them in your hands in the form of a book, and draw a line through hundreds of years to connect the past with the future." The works were created independently over several years and only conceived as a whole specifically for this book, altogether representing a decade of artistic practice, from 2011, when the first work was created, to 2021, when the project was realized in printed form. Though kurtis has published several poetry books, all of which feature his visual work, this is the first book where his visuals are the focus.

From the Introduction: This compilation is an outgrowth of the 'alter/altar II: sigil, soma, score, salve' workshop community facilitated by Elæ (Lynne DeSilva-Johnson). We gathered for 6 weeks at Poets House in New York City in the Fall of 2019, in a space dedicated to deconstructing the boundaries of "poetics," and began to explore, to settle inside the vacillating space between representation of the self and of the observed. We attempted to develop work that reflected an ethical sense of narrative framing, experimenting with mark, typography, image-making, language(s), code(s), lists, erasures, citations, collage and other creative measures. Our process imitated a palimpsest, layered to reflect a body that living in/against a historic time and place. We considered and created works that challenged genre, drawing on source texts and media, ephemera, detritus, found language. We made lists, we played with memoir and epistolary form--alongside somatic and social practice. We asked: can we make our work a powerful, political act of radical self- and community-building? Of witness? Can it be an act of healing? YES.We created a community dedicated to object-making. We exploded the archaic idea that creating work is restricted to a strictly personal account. Instead, we foraged, we used algorithms and chance operations so the work created could be situated within/against/in juxtaposition to/ as alchemical space of transformation and/or as lense through which to evaluate (elevate), mark, and/or transform. We created our own personal shot publications and/or zines alongside many other exciting interdisciplinary and archival projects. We have put our work together here, a collaboration to design an alter/altar publication.Over our workshop, we invited one another to rid ourselves of preciousness, as well as a stable definition of what constitutes poetry. Together, we invited a process of iterative learning by doing, approaching our lives together with a documentarian's attention. In the publication, you'll find this reflected in the multi-medium work: the PowerPoint presentations of Kinsey Cantrell, the collages from Sherese Francis, the chance operations of Marie Hinson, Becca Erwin's footnote-ridden pages, Christine Scanlon's use of color, drawing, and collage, and Maddy Durante's collection of New Jersey turnpike pop ephemera.
