Kauffman was admired by Goethe and Herder, and her clients included queens and emperors from across the continent. Die Malereien und Installationen von Cornelia Baltes (geb. 1978 in Mönchengladbach, lebt und arbeitet in Berlin) bewegen sich an der Grenze von Abstraktion und Figuration. Dabei hinterfragt sie oftmals die Funktion eines Gemäldes, indem sie über das Rechteck der Leinwand hinaus auf die Wand malt oder es als eigenständiges Objekt frei im Raum aufhängt oder auf den Boden legt. Die Arbeiten sind eine Mischung aus Pop- und Minimal-Art, die mit ihrer Intensität und Dynamik und manchmal mit einem humorvollen Augenzwinkern jede und jeden in ihren Bann ziehen.Die vorliegende Publikation ist die erste umfassende Monografie zum Werk der Künstlerin.
