Der Autor hat sich zu einer Indienreise entschlossen. Allein. In Indien. Er möchte gerne Tiger sehen. In freier Wildbahn. Klingt alles ein bisschen verrückt? Ist es auch, aber auch zum Brüllen komisch. Der Autor trifft auf allerlei exotisches Getier, darunter Riesenphytons, engagierte Tourguides, wildentschlossene Elefantenführer und Tiger, die lieber ihre Ruhe hätten, als von Touristen, deren Elefantenführern und Tourguides durch den Dschungel gejagt zu werden. Und so ein Tiger ist auch schnell mal sauer. Bei dieser Gelegenheit stellt der Autor dann fest, dass auch Reitelefanten sich vor wütenden Tigern fürchten. Für die eilige Flucht steht glücklicherweise neben ängstlichen Elefanten auch der Jeep des Tourguides zur Verfügung, der auf den zärtlichen Kose-namen »little starting problem« hört und der aufgrund technischer Besonderheiten einen Hügel zum Starten braucht. Eine Eigenschaft, die ihr Potential erst voll entfaltet, wenn man auf einen wilden Elefantenbullen trifft und weit und breit kein Hügel in Sicht ist. Neben viel Getier trifft der Autor nicht unerwartet auch auf viele Inder, viel Indien und viele exotische Gewohnheiten der Einheimischen, die alle einen indischen Touch haben. Die Erfahrungen seiner letzten Indienreise sind inzwischen auf die positiven Eindrücke reduziert und so muss er noch mal ran, um sich davon zu überzeugen, dass eine Indienreise auch ihre Schattenseiten hat. Und er wird fündig. Sehr sogar. Doch die schrägen Erlebnisse mit indischer Nationalparkbürokratie und die Eigenheiten der Einheimischen in Bezug auf Verkehr, Pünktlichkeit und Tiger erscheinen gleich viel weniger schlimm, wenn man denn tatsächlich einen Tiger zu sehen bekommt. Oder auch zwei. Gleichzeitig. Mit angehaltenem Atem beobachtet man, wie der erste sich dem offenen Jeep nähert, in dem, wie einem nun erst auffällt, der Tourist hinten steht und damit am bequemsten zu erreichen ist. Gleichzeitig denkt man an die Tigerin die, das war ganz in der Nähe, mal in einen Jeep gesprungen ist und von einem Inder am Schwanz herausgezogen wurde, als sie gerade die Insassen bearbeitete.
