Ende der 70er Jahre gab es dann nur noch Filme, in denen gezeigt wurde, wie schrecklich der Mensch ist, wie rücksichtslos und brutal er seine Umwelt und die Natur zerstört. Ich wollte mit Star Wars den desillusionierten Kids die Traumwelt wiederbringen" Mit diesem Zitat setzt George Lucas , der Schöpfer und Produzent von Star Wars darauf, dass wie Wim Wenders sagen würde, die Amerikaner sich mit ihren Filmen identifizieren. Im weiteren können diese Aussagen auch an der Biographie George Lucas selbst fest gemacht werden. Der von mir zu untersuchende Gegenstand Film am Beispiel der Trilogie Stars Wars ist nun bereits 10 bis 16 Jahre alt. Von seiner Aktualität hat er indes nichts eingebüsst, da im Moment der Fertigstellung dieser Arbeit im Irak gekämpft wird. Die politische Diskussion der U.S.A. kursiert wieder einmal um SDI, dem "Krieg der Sterne" - Projekt, mit dem feindliche Raketen im Orbit zerstört werden können.Das Ziel meiner Arbeit ist im Blickpunkt des Korrelationsgedankens von Film und Theologie angesiedelt. Die Leitidee hierzu liegt in meinem Interesse, das im Projekt "Film und Spiritualität" in der Verbindung mehrerer Seminare des Fachgebietes Religionspädagogik und dem Arbeitsbereich Pastoraltheologie der Universität Freiburg grundgelegt wurde.Es soll aufgezeigt werden, "Gott in allen Dingen zu finden" ( nach Ignatius Loyola ), auch und gerade in einem trivialen Medium wie dem Science-Fiction-Film behandelt werden, sondern nur am Beispiel des Haupthelden im vorliegenden Medium.Star Wars stellt ein wichtiges, politisches nordamerikanisches Dokument der filmhistorischen Güter Hollywoods dar, das wesentlichen Einfluss auf spätere Produktionen hatte.Gegliedert ist meine Arbeit in ein methodisch vorher angelegtes Untersuchungsraster ( Kapitel 1 ) welches das Eingangszitat zu unterstreichen versucht.In Kapitel 2 wird der lebensgeschichtliche Zusammenhang von Erzählen und Erinnern aus praktisch-theologischer Sicht anhand einiger Theologen belichtet.In der Rekonstruktion von Lebensgeschichte werden Verstrickungen in Geschichten von Menschen mit Gott transparent.
