Transformation
In Levels of Consciousness and Transformation, Angelika weaves color-saturated threads of emotion into her sumptuous digital tapestries, which explore the themes of awareness, perception, mindfulness, wakefulness, alertness, cognizance, and realization.Angelika is a masterful visual storyteller who layers photographic images, colors, and shapes in a way that defies the 2D format they're presented in. Her limitless creativity revels in the organic intersection of humanity and nature in unexpected ways - inviting me to look at the world and myself in a new light.Levels of Consciousness and Transformation contain some of Angelika's most evocative work yet, and I find myself coming back time and again for the depth of emotions that overtake me when I lose myself in them. Her art is visual poetry that both rips me open and soothes my spirit.

Constantinople
Beneath and in the midst of the modern metropolis of Istanbul lie the remnants of another city, called Constantinople. For over a thousand years, from May 11, 330 to May 29, 1453, it was the cultural and spiritual capital of Christendom. Throughout the Middle Ages the city that its inhabitants also called New Rome served as a living bridge to the civilizations of Classical Greece and Rome, transmitting their intellectual riches to both the West and East and ultimately laying the foundations of the Renaissance. Constantinople: Eye of the World is a meditation in photographs on the greatest city of the ancient and medieval worlds. In the 11th century, when the population of Rome was 30,000, Constantinople and its suburbs were home to perhaps a million people. It was the only major city of the ancient world to survive intact to the end of the Middle Ages, preserving the intellectual heritage of Greece and Rome. Napoleon Bonaparte once said that if the world had a capital, it would be Constantinople. The City's founder, St. Constantine the Great, would surely have agreed. Its medieval Greek inhabitants called their City ho ophthalmos tou kosmou - the Eye of the World.

art commerce
Over a period of eight years, Steve Riskind photographed four small businesses located in or near Paterson, New Jersey. These "artisan businesses" are small, rely on skilled crafts people, and all are family owned. They are a specialty textile firm, jewelry manufacturer, pipe organ builder and stained glass studio. Each chapter focuses on one of these businesses. Introductions to the chapters are based largely on Riskind's interviews with owners of the firms. In some cases additional research supplements the interviews.Following each introductory essay are approximately 20 photographs taken at the business. The goal in taking the photographs was to capture the intensity of workers engaging with the materials they use. These are not posed pictures showing workers holding products and smiling at the camera. Rather they are images of skilled artisans in the process of creation.

America Recovered
America Recovered reveals the point where abstract political processes manifest themselves in the physical world, thus providing an alternate means of experiencing the contemporary American landscape. Collectively, the images and essays show what aspects of our everyday lives are being assigned value in the promise of a recovered America.

America Recovered collects forty images that mark one of the only efforts to document the breadth of projects funded by the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Unlike the New Deal and other programs designed for employment and infrastructural development, the Recovery Act was passed without any funds dedicated for photographic documentation. Using an official government website as his guide, Chad Ress took photographs of projects across the country. The publication of America Recovered at this moment allows for a critical reassessment of the Act and its lasting impact on the American landscape.

The two essays by architectural writer Jordan H. Carver and photography historian Miriam Paeslack situate Ress's photographs within broader discourses of urbanism, infrastructure, and politics. The question of what role the government should play in everyday life remains one of the touchstone issues in American politics. The photographs and essays ask a different set of questions, not whether government spending is good or bad, whether it worked or didn't, but what, exactly does government spending look like. And importantly, America Recovered asks how government spending and civic identity are constructed around place.
Georgia - on My Mind
GEORGIA - on my mind defies classification. More than a collection of personal essays and photography, this book is a reflection, confession, and commentary on the bittersweet adventure of life.Georgia Lee's unique voice is witty and self-deprecating; perceptive and astute. Her stories, illustrated by her poignant photography, combine humor and pathos in equal measure.MEET THE BEATLES!!! speaks to her rabid pre-teen hysteria at The Beatles' 1965 Atlanta concert that led her mother to administer a post-show sedative. Accompanying photographs include her prized framed ticket with its $5.50 cost of admission.LICE LESSONS transforms every mother's nightmare - a child's lice infestation, during her own suicidal depression into a love story of mother-daughter togetherness, illustrated with a de-lousing photo from Atlanta's Lice Ladies emporium.BIOLOGICAL CLOCK speaks to cultural impositions on women. Georgia Lee's brave recounting of her reproductive battles is painful, yet compelling. Under a so-called "biological clock," to have a baby, she endures horrific medical negligence and months of hospitalization that lead to the stillborn delivery of a son, followed by a bitter separation and divorce. In post-traumatic shock, as a working single parent of a four-year-old toddler, the tragedy is redeemed by a miraculous pregnancy and delivery, at 40 years old, of a beautiful, healthy daughter. An unexpected memorial, 20 years later, links a time to mourn and a time to heal. A tale of longing and loss, torment and joy, Biological Clock addresses the painful issues so many women endure, often in silence.Through every story and image, Georgia Lee is unflinchingly honest and authentic. On My Mind is one woman's journey of joy and pain. Though all paths vary, the journey is universal.

Solace
Every day, the stories of our lives are being shaped by millions of small moments—the little details, the sparks in between, the tiny fragments that, when they are ready, begin to connect and to change who we are and how we see the world and our place in it. Genevieve Georget, with her raw truth, walks us through the tiny details of the year in her life that cracked her open, pierced through the curated walls that were built around her, and, in so doing, brought her to a place of surrender and a true understanding of hope. Her stories and experiences are a picture of the beautiful truth that, in your struggle, in your pain, in your triumph and joys, you are not alone. This book opens the door, calls to you, and allows you to follow the journey of the year that tried to break her; to explore the words that never failed her; to experience images that capture her; and to see how her experiences—the painful, the inspiring, the confusing, the enchanting—gently changed her.Solace: A Journal of Human Experience is about how comfort, consolation, and community can heal broken hearts, mend deep wounds, and restore hearts toward love. It’s a book that invites you into the exquisite dance of it all.

Ned Pratt
The world in bold; Newfoundland in abstract."It is the landscape that endures, it is the landscape that remains in control." -- Ned PrattWith Ned Pratt, there is no nostalgia, no romance, no theatre. His interest in the Newfoundland landscape forms the foundation for his photography.Pratt's approach to the act of looking transcends place. He distills the landscape into abstractions of form and colour. Disrupting depth with close architectural details and incisions of poles and wires, he undermines the traditional, romantic notion of " looking out" to sublime geometry.Ned Pratt: One Wave charts a decade of Pratt's breathtaking photography. Echoing Pratt's aesthetic, this beautifully designed book presents Pratt's works in formal conversation with each other. Stark imagery of buildings is juxtaposed with forays into abstraction and celebrations of the inherent geometry of natural forms -- whether a single wave crashing over a wall or stones cracked by freezing and thawing.
