Martina Sauter's (*1974) photographic work portrays interiors with complex planes of space and time that simultaneously explore their construction through the media. Her work focuses on how humans design the spaces in which they live and how internal spaces are created through personal experience and by what is conveyed by the media. Martina Sauter combines photographs that she herself has taken with stills from films and screenshots of newspaper images to create visual spaces with unfamiliar perspectives within which fragmented figures or text appear. This encourages the viewer to explore ostensible representations of reality while challenging them to attempt to solve the spatial pictorial puzzles they depict. One group of works is dedicated to unusual species of animals, which are positioned in new habitats through the use of collages. These works are unique visual events encompassing partial areas that glow in the dark, providing an opening into further additional worlds. The publication ONE/TWO is a book and an object in one and features works created between 2008 and 2022.

The book Envoi of the Swedish photographer and filmmaker Stefan Bladh (*1976) consists of photographs that were created on numerous trips between 2002 und 2018. In his work, in which he lets himself be driven by intuition and instinct, Bladh explores the conditio humana. Recurring topics are the consciousness and the impermanence of our existence. "These pictures pose questions for me and make me think about our longings, our needs, and our nature; our notion of a separate self, even though we are so closely interwoven with one another-in every atom, since the beginning of time." Última producción de este artista cubano, preocupado por el impacto de la cultura material, la historia y la memoria en el hombre contemporáneo. Interesado en los símbolos que representan las ideologías y que construyen las identidades colectivas, busca en su fotografía la memoria del pasado histórico y su impacto en su presente cultural. Su obra se organiza en series que a veces se interconectan y complementan entre sí. Cada nueva serie es una consecuencia de la anterior, con preocupaciones e intereses similares, pasando de la fotografía en blanco y negro con una perspectiva documental a la de estudio, al uso de medios digitales y a la fotografía en color.Su trabajo escultórico se desarrolla en instalaciones en las que usa el ensamblaje y la soldadura de metal y acero al carbono.

Arkadien, diese Utopie eines Landes, in dem Mensch und Natur im Einklang leben, in dem Krieg und Elend abwesend, Frieden, Gerechtigkeit und Glück dagegen selbstverständlich sind, hat eine lange, bis in die Antike zurückreichende Geschichte. Ursprünglich eine abgelegene Landschaft auf der Peloponnes, verklärte der römische Dichter Vergil dieses reale Arkadien in seinen Hirtengedichten zu jener imaginären Idylle, die fortan in der abendländischen Kunst und Geistesgeschichte weiterlebte.Für Arcadian Sketchbook - fotografiert in den Jahren 2020 und 2021 - machte sich Wolfgang Strassl auf die Wanderung entlang des nahen Flussufers, um innere Ruhe und Ausgleich zu finden, neben vielen anderen, die in dieser Zeit dasselbe suchten. Er erklärt: "Ich habe Arkadien einfach vor meiner eigenen Haustür gesucht und es dort auch gefunden."

The results of the election were hard to comprehend because they couldn't be understood through logical or rational thinking. The lack of comprehension of the results led to half the nation living in a continual state of bewilderment. Caleb Cain Marcus turned to photography as a means to make sense of and process his visceral reaction to the election. He photographed the blue sky because, like our thoughts and minds, it is abstract and seemingly undividable; and yet, humans create division with thoughts and ideas which have no physical presence. <BR><BR>He used his work to move beyond the feeling of hopelessness and despondency. The first step of the process was to physically divide the prints by tearing them in half. The next step was to join the two pieces together and finally to apply gold leaf along the tear to create a continuous gold line. Through this physical intervention to the photographs every print becomes a unique expression of an attempt to leave behind the feelings that resulted from the election. <BR><BR>

This collection of nature photography has a poetic purpose in mind. These images convey the sea's raw power, its constructive and destructive force. Each picture is reflected back on itself, flipped or curved, the waves like works of sculpture that extend into infinity. Tabor's ingenious method captures the spirit of the wave by breaking it into its physical elements. He crops the most energetic section of the surf and, by eliminating the horizon line, deprives the picture of any sense of scale. He heightens chromatic contrasts until these waves dominate the image - there is only the fluid burst of spray and the flash of reflected light off the water. The results are undeniable: dynamic three-dimensional explosions seem to surge off the page, and it is hard to believe these waves aren't moving. Splash will bring the ocean to you.
