Wie die Buchstaben entstanden sind. Das Buch widmet sich der Geschichte der Morphologie der Schriftzeichen, die für die Entstehung unserer Schreib- und Lesekultur von zentraler Bedeutung war. Erfasst wird der Zeitraum von der frühen Zeichenbildung des phonetischen Alphabets bis zur Neuzeit. Ein besonderer Höhepunkt in der Entwicklungsgeschichte unseres Groß- und Kleinbuchstaben-Alphabets ist mit der Erfindung Gutenbergs und der dadurch zunehmenden Allgegenwart der Bücher verbunden. Die Lesekonvention verlangte, dass sich die einzelnen Lautzeichen in ihren Grundformen so weit stabilisierten, dass sie im Zusammenspiel prägnante, im Leseprozess gut wiedererkennbare Wortbilder ergaben. Es entstanden prototypische Buchstabenformen, die hintergründig den Rahmen für die relativen Abwandlungen der zahlreich entstehenden Schriftvarianten bildeten. Als vergleichende Morphologie werden dazu im Buch etwa hundert der heute gebräuchlichsten Lese- oder Werkschrift-Varianten der gesamten Antiqua-Großfamilie gezeigt: jede Schrift, die um die Jahrtausendwende in einem der prämierten Bücher der Stiftung Buchkunst auftrat, ist durch ein gleich großes und gleich lautendes Wortbild vertreten. Diese wurden nach ihrer jeweiligen Familienähnlichkeit sortiert.

For generations, children's books provided American readers with their first impressions of Japan. Seemingly authoritative, and full of fascinating details about daily life in a distant land, these publications often presented a mixture of facts, stereotypes, and complete fabrications.    This volume takes readers on a journey through nearly 200 years of American children's books depicting Japanese culture, starting with the illustrated journal of a boy who accompanied Commodore Matthew Perry on his historic voyage in the 1850s. Along the way, it traces the important role that representations of Japan played in the evolution of children's literature, including the early works of Edward Stratemeyer, who went on to create such iconic characters as Nancy Drew. It also considers how American children's books about Japan have gradually become more realistic with more Japanese-American authors entering the field, and with texts grappling with such serious subjects as internment camps and the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.   Drawing from the Library of Congress's massive collection, Sybille A. Jagusch presents long passages from many different types of Japanese-themed children's books and periodicals-including travelogues, histories, rare picture books, folktale collections, and boys' adventure stories-to give readers a fascinating look at these striking texts. Para melhor interpretar os conceitos emanados dos textos da obra que o leitor tem em mãos, é necessário um breve entendimento de que a sustentabilidade deve atender às necessidades das gerações atuais sem por em risco as necessidades das futuras gerações, entretanto ainda vivenciamos um abismo entre o saber e o aplicar na prática. Além dos capítulos terem sido construídos através de discussões reais envolvendo profissionais interessados em novas estratégias, este trabalho busca atender aos avanços científicos e tecnológicos relacionados ao equilíbrio ambiental no Estado de Pernambuco e no Brasil. A sustentabilidade vai além das relações dos recursos naturais, pois analisa os níveis de organizações mais amplos que dominam o caráter econômico, social, ambiental e político. Este livro abrange o contexto pedagógico e desmistifica a crença de que o desenvolvimento sustentável não possui cunho econômico, o que restringia esta temática a fins ambientais. É gratificante constatar as afinidades profissionais que concretizaram a construção desta obra. Podemos nos tornar muito mais conscientes dos deveres de nossa geração e dos direitos das próximas. This project deals with behaviour and capacity of steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) flat slabs under punching shear force. A total of twelve small-scale flat slabs of different dimensions that consisted of nine SFRC were tested. Effect of steel fibres amount on punching shear behaviour and resistance of the slabs was investigated. The results show a significant increase of the punching shear capacity and considerable improvement of cracking behaviour as well as good integrity of column-slab connection of the slabs with fibres. The slabs without fibres failed suddenly in a very brittle manner, while the fibre-reinforced ones collapsed in a more ductile type. As the size of the specimen is increasing the shear strength of the specimen decreases. Here the percentage of steel fibre is increased but the punching shear strength of the slab is decreased.

A tecnologia digital se tornou parte do cotidiano dos indivíduos. Lidar com ela no ambiente escolar é uma forma de aproximar o âmbito extraescolar do intraescolar, bem como de formar cidadãos aptos a lidar criticamente com as novas práticas tecnológicas sociais. Porque escrevi este livro, qual seria o propósito? Não há poesia sem ter um estado de espírito maior, ou um estado de ciência maior. Escrevi este livro por amor as coisas que me deixam triste, tentei falar sobre alguns erros que cometi e sobre algumas pessoas que amo. Achei necessário dizer ao mundo sobre como amar no momento de infelicidade. A menção da família nos poemas, pois quando nos a perdemos nos fazem falta. Às vezes é necessário aquentar certas coisas, aprender a engolir coisas inaceitáveis na vida. Pensem sobre meus poemas.
