Pierre de Ronsard né en septembre 1524 et mort le 28 décembre 1585, est un des poètes français les plus importants du XVIe siècle. Il est dit :' Prince des poètes et poète des princes '. En raison de sa surdité, il doit quitter les rangs de l'armée, pour se consacrer a la poésie érudite, lyrique, puis épique, il restera longtemps poète a la cour de Charles XI.Ce recueil paru en 1841 chez Flammarion se veut alors comme un Florilège des Poèmes de Pierre de Ronsard. Qui ignore encore l'oeuvre du poète se devra de s'immerger dans l'esprit de la Pléiade dont il fut l'un des immortels protagonistes avec ses vers.Remy Belleau, né à Nogent le Rotrou en 1528 et mort à Paris en 1577, traduisit avec un lyrisme léger, mais fidèle la poésie grecque (Odes d'Anacreon, Ode à l'Aimée de Sappho), avant d'offrir à la postérité ses propres travaux célébrant fleurs, fruits, pierres précieuses, animaux dans ses "Petites Inventions". Mais c'est en 1565 que son talent passera à la postérité, avec sa Bergerie : une oeuvre plus intime, érotique...L'ouvrage reproduit ici, fort recherché par les connaisseurs, porte bien son nom. Le Livre d'Or célèbre et rend hommage au poète de Nogent le Rotrou en levant le voile sur sa vie, et sur son univers.

NISAMI (1141-1209) - der unerreichbare Stern der persischsprachigen Literatur zählt zu den bedeutendsten Epikern im islamischen Kulturkreis. As the University of Erfurt collapsed in the early 1520s, Hessus faced losing his livelihood. To cope, he imagined himself a shape-changing Proteus. Transforming first into a lawyer, then a physician, he finally became a teacher at the Nuremberg academy organized by Philip Melanchthon. Volume 5 traces this story via Hessus's poems of 1524-1528: "Some Rules for Preserving Good Health" (1524; 1531), with attached "Praise of Medicine" and two sets of epigrams; "Three Elegies" (1526), two praising the Nuremberg school and one attacking a criticaster; "Venus Triumphant" (1527), with poems on Joachim Camerarius's wedding; "Against the Hypocrisy of the Monastic Habit" (1527), with four Psalm paraphrases; and "Seventeen Bucolic Idyls" (1528), updating the "Bucolicon" of 1509 and adding five idyls.

Die im Sonettzyklus "Astrophel and Stella" zusammengefassten 108 Sonette waren ursprünglich nicht für eine breite Leserschaft bestimmt, sondern für einen engen Kreis von Freunden und Familienangehörigen gedacht, denen sein Leben wie auch seine politischen Enttäuschungen vertraut waren. In der englischen Literatur sind diese die ersten, an Petrarca orientierten Liebessonette überhaupt, die einen starken Einfluss auf die in den neunziger Jahren des 16. Jahrhunderts einsetzende regelrechte Welle von Sonetten hatte und die erst den Anstoß dazu gab.Die Erstausgabe des berühmten und zuvor noch nie in zweisprachiger Ausgabe erschienenen Sonettzyklus "Astrophel and Stella" ("Der Liebhaber des Sterns und der Stern") erschien im Jahre 1591 ohne Autorisierung durch die Erben bei Thomas Newman. Mary Sidney, Countess of Pembroke, Sidney's Schwester, ließ diese Ausgabe durch Regierungserlass unterdrücken, erst 1598 konnte William Ponsonby eine verbesserte Version, nunmehr autorisiert, im Rahmen der Folioausgabe der Gesamtwerke von Sidney veröffentlichen. Die Reihenfolge der Sonette von "Astrophel and Stella" folgt dieser Foliausgabe.
